What vRealize Automation Delivers:
Agility through cloud automation Orchestration – Accelerate the end-to-end delivery and management of infrastructure and applications.
Governance through frictionless governess policies – Ensure that users receive the right-size resources or applications from the right cloud at the appropriate service level for the jobs they need to perform.
Choice through flexibility – Provision and manage multi-vendor, multi-cloud infrastructure, and stateful / stateless applications by leveraging new and existing infrastructure, tools, and processes.
Cost savings through efficiency – Reduce operational cost by replacing time-consuming, manual processes and gain additional cost savings through automated reclamation of inactive resources.
If you are looking to learn what’s new in vRealize Automation 7.5, you can check out the on-demand webinar at the link below.
Back about two years ago I took a NSX Bootcamp. After the bootcamp, I wanted to create a cheat sheet for myself since I don’t have a networking background and it was the first time working with NSX. That way I had something to look at later to refer to as a reminder. So I created these two pages where the one is a “simple” logical view and the other is a more detailed logical view. Although I created this two years ago, it covers the core components and concepts of NSX, so it is still accurate and relevant to the latest versions of NSX.
The detailed page (shown in the picture above) shows all the components of NSX, each component’s function, the intercommunication between them, what plane (Management, Control, or Data) they are in, etc.
I think most individuals will find it useful, especially those that are new to NSX. If you have any questions on the PDF that my overview video doesn’t answer, feel free to email me from this site.
Technical 301 (DEMO) – How to Enable & Configure vSAN 6.5!
In this session, I provide a demo of enabling and configuring the latest version of Virtual SAN (vSAN) – version 6.5 from within the vSphere Web Client. It is extremely easy to enable, configure, and manage vSAN even if you are not a storage expert! I used the “Hands On Labs (HOL)” environment to demo how to enable and configure it. The specific HOL lab is the “HOL-1731-SDC-1 – vSAN v6.5: What’s New” lab. The HOL is free to use by anyone and can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection. It is a techies playground to learn how to install, configure, and manage VMware solutions. So go out and register for an account and start using the Hands-On-Labs!
VMware vSAN is the industry-leading software powering Hyper-Converged Infrastructure solutions. vSAN is a core building block for the Software-Defined Data Center. There are more than 7,000 customers that have adopted vSAN in their production environments.
Enables You to Evolve Without Risk
Seamlessly extend virtualization to storage with an integrated hyper-converged solution that simply works with your overall VMware environment and reduces the risk in digital transformation by using existing tools, skillsets and solutions.
Lower total cost of ownership by 50% or more with capital and operational savings. Reduce storage CapEx with software-defined storage that leverages server-side economics and affordable flash. Avoid large capital expenses by growing-as-you-go with on-demand, granular scaling of compute and storage that delivers predictable performance and costs.
Scales to Tomorrow
Prepare for tomorrow’s dynamic business in the multi-cloud era with a solution designed to utilize the latest storage and server technologies and ready to support a wide range of applications, from current business critical applications to next-gen applications using containers.
Learn how out-of-the-box integration of VMware TrustPoint and AirWatch further enhances securing and managing mobile, desktop and server environments, and dynamically drives policy configuration changes across the organization for even stronger compliance and faster threat containment.
Traditional approaches to securing a data center are focused on building a strong perimeter to keep threats outside the network. However, little is done to protect the network once a threat is inside the network. East-West (server-to-server) traffic accounts for more than 80% of overall data center traffic, but it’s largely unprotected, leaving you at risk. Virtual Network Assessment shows what percent of your data center traffic is “East-West” and not protected by your perimeter firewall.
How do I get started with micro-segmentation?
It can be a labor-intensive process to figure out what security policies to put in place, requiring time-consuming tasks such as identifying which servers are talking to each other and what ports are open. Virtual Network Assessment gives you a preview of how to micro-segment your network and recommends firewall rules to help you get started.
In this session, I provide a DEMO of vRealize Network Insight or (vRNI) 3.2. I run through the entire interface and provide an overview of its capabilities and features. Some of the capabilities I show are related to Planning Security, Path Flows, Global Searching, Visual Topology, and much more!
vRealize Network Insight delivers intelligent operations for software-defined networking and security. It helps optimize network performance and availability with visibility and analytics across virtual and physical networks. It provides planning and recommendations for implementing micro-segmentation security, plus operational views to quickly and confidently manage and scale VMware NSX deployment.

VMware’s New “Hybrid Cloud Assessment (HCA)” Tool for VMware Partners!
In this session, I do an overview of VMware’s new Hybrid Cloud Assessment (HCA) for partners. I go through a slide presentation to go over the basics of it, then go into a demo showing the vRealize Business for Cloud interface, and finally I go through a sample report!
This assessment is extremely helpful when used in conjunction with our vSphere Optimization Assessment (VOA) to provide costing comparison for running your workloads either in your Private or in a Public Cloud. This tool will help you analyze which is the most cost effective place to run your workloads. The HCA uses vRealize Business for Cloud (vRBC) to provide the analysis and costing comparison information. In this video, I go through the vRBC interface to show you the cost comparison information along with going through a sample report from the assessment.

In this video, we demonstrate imaging the primary rack in a VMware Cloud Foundation instance. We’ve deployed and configured the imaging appliance with the software bundle on a laptop that’s plugged into the management switch. From here we’ll kick off the imaging process that will deploy and perform the “first-boot” configuration of the two top-of-rack switches, the management switch, and the 12 qualified vSAN Ready Nodes in the system.
In this video, we demonstrate preparing for the VMware Cloud Foundation imaging process. We’ve downloaded the imaging appliance and the software bundle onto the laptop that’ll be plugged into the first management switch. From here we’ll set a static address on system deploy the imaging appliance, upload and then activate the bundle.
